Responsibilities of the Clerk
The Clerk's Office is where the following passes/permits and licenses are issued: marriage, dog, handicapped parking, and voter information. Please contact our office for fees or details.

Who is eligible to obtain a death certificate copy?
What is a lawful right or claim?
If the applicant is not the spouse, parent, child or sibling of the decedent, a lawful right or claim must be documented. An example of a lawful right or claim would be a death record needed by the applicant to claim a benefit. Documentation would consist of an official letter from the agency verifying that to process the claim they require from the applicant a copy of the requested death
Marriage License Requirements:
- Both persons must come in between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday
- Two forms of identification must be presented - birth certificate along with a driver's license, photo ID, or passport
- There's a 24 hour waiting period
- The license must be used within 60 days from the issuing date
- If either party has been married, any and all final judgements of divorce papers must be presented
- License fee is $40.00 cash or check only

- Other persons who have a documented lawful right or claim, documented medical need, or New York State Court Order
